I am a real history buff. I feel that we can really learn from the past and that it can help us in the future. History seems to repeat itself. its just so amazing what the past has to offer us now. I would like to know what other people think of history, what draws them to it, and different stories/legends people have heard.

I live in east central Scotland which is a part of the country that is steeped in history.Within a twenty mile radius of where I live there are several castles, stately homes and various Iron age and Roman remains,as well as the site of numerous battles. When I was younger I frequently visited these places and I developed a fascination with archaeology and learning how people lived in the past.I think to properly understand the world we live in today you have to grasp the various causes and effects which have shaped it.I recently completed a degree in history and humanities and I'm hoping to find a permanent job with my local museum in the near future.

it is hard to say, maybe the connection to ancestors, the facsination with how other cultures lived, a facsination with how societies formed, i also feel that i love it the most for escapism, nothing like letting your imagination run wild with a small piece of history.....
i have a question for others.... how much do you think society know and people have changed of the centuries, keeping in mind all of the things that have happened in the news lately..... how greatly have we changed? how much have we learnt? |
