Question

hi again! where do you think that I can find on the net some recent opinion polls about what people think of scotland's independence? I'd like to find something recent, I've got plenty of polls of the years 1998-9!!
thanks!

Bear in mind that it is very hard to take surveys and polls without some sort of bias. For example, most people visiting the site mentioned by Neil above would be nationalists and therefore the survey results may not be indicative of the whole population.

Sorry Hirta but the site I mentioned contains collated data from all opinion polls published in various media, it's not a poll of visitors to the site. the results are therefore as unbiased as any System 3/Mori/etc. poll can be.

Why don't you just look at the recent election results for Holyrood? About a third of the people that voted voted for parties that want independence for Scotland.

The SNP, SSP and the Greens. That should give a fairly good indication.

I'd agree that the best way to examine the desire for independence in Scotland is to look at election results rather than polls, as we have universal suffrage!
