Smile herbal medicine

Hi,

I study medicine here in Berlin, have done several times practical training on herbal medicine and my practical experience with herbs counts ten years now. I have been brought up with old knowledge which made a solid foundation for scientific work and healing. Is it possible to study herbal medicine in Scotland? In Germany it is quite a difficult thing...

Well. I would be pleased if you would think of chatting with me.

All the best,

Franziska

Smile Herbal Medicine

Thanks for your reply. It will be great to share experiences and hear about herbal med in Germany. I actually live and study in Australia, not Scotland, sorry if that disapoints. There is a very healthy industry here in training to Bachelor Degree and Diploma status for Naturopaths, Homeopaths and Herballists. There are many institutions in all states of Australia that train and administer. I study with a Swiss girl who is studying here because of the limited opportunities for herbal study in Switzerland.

Do you administer healing with herbs while you are also studying? I would be interested to know how popular herbal medicine is with the german population. In Australia 64% of people seek treatments other then normal Western medicine.

In my course we study Biological Chemistry, Biochemistry, Nutrition, Anatomy & Physiology as basics. Is this similar to your medicine studies?

Great to talk with you .... Ozkat

Re: Herbal Medicine

Hi Ozkat,

nice to hear from you. The courses you study are quite the same as over here in Germany, but I guess the quality is better in Australia. Herbal medicine is quite a thing argued about in Germany. There are many people who need the name of a certain company on the package of their pills and there are some (and even more every day) who feel that "regular medicine" cannot help them. Especially people with cancer, atopic eczemia and rheumatism are looking for help in the very few hospitals offering natural remedies...

Okay, got to go, hospital is waiting for me.

See you.

Wink Re: Re: Herbal Medicine

Hi Ozkat,

I'm back again, was a bit busy with practical training and history stuff ;=)

I had an interesting practical training at Berlin's only hospital for natural medicine and it was great. Guess I will work there in summer for a month. Do you want to know more? Please let me hear from you again!

Lots of love,

Franziska

Hi Jacobitedreamer,

Sorry it has taken me awhile to get back to you. I have been studying for exams and finalising case studies. I would be very interested to hear of the practical training. One of my subjects this semester is pre-clinic skils which prepares you for Dispensary and Clinic work. What did your practical training entail?

Cool Hi!

Hi Ozkat,

sorry I did not reply earlier, I was busy with Easter (cake, sweets, meat and more ;=)).

Well, the hospital where I did my practical training offers quite a lot: Kneipp methods (water, herbal medicine, specific diets), accupunture, light therapy, relaxation- and physiotherapeutic training (Feldenkraiss etc.), they really try everything to help people. Hope I'll have the chance to work there in summer - it's a quiet place by a lakeside, so it will not be too hot there.

Mhairi has asked me to ask you for your email-address as she is very interested in natural medicine as well.

Okay then, got to go.

Franziska
