Being disabled in North East Fife is disgusting, I stay near Cupar the county town being a disabled driver is a nightmare any disabled parking what few there is ,always has large lorrys and trade vans parked in the spaces and seems Traffic wardens and police have no interests even have seen police parked in these spaces, dont they realise one gets a disabled badge because we find great difficulty walking further that 25 yards, and yet most disabled parking spaces are way up in rear of woollworths store ,,,who plans this ,,,Fife Council of course, same terrible service from Fife Council I asked for a special uplift, I had a bed settee that needed removed from my home so phoned council and although I was disabled they insisted I got the settee out my house to the bin area so the binmen could lift, well I attempted it and struggled and hour later finally got it out house and placed at the area, Bin men came and lifted the cusions refused to lift the settee said it was to heavy for 3 men to lift, it seems the two workers are elderly, and driver is not allowed to by union rules,
but its ok for Disabled to lift it themselves , I phoned and complained no one was interested,so my health is of no interests to any of them,When is disabled people going to be considered in North East Fife, and warning to anyone disabled coming to Cupar avoid the stupid disabled parking space outside Woollworths where one has to reverse back onto the Zebra crossing, have you ever seen anything as stupid, Disgusted Disabled Driver |

Johnbearcat: Unfortunately, 'noemal people' really can't imagine or know the problems a disabled person faces. This really can't be real cruelty; it's because they don't usually have a point of reference with which to base this knowledge. I say this thinking of myself. Befrore I was in this car accident, I was physically fit, and could do anything I wanted. This ended (briefly---for
about ten years or so), until I re-learned the physical skills it takes to lead a 'normal life'! Do I ever appreciate life now!! All I can suggest to you, to help make your life easier and more tolerable for you is to get in touch with agencies that deal with people who have similar problems ( a beginning point is the Red Cross, or even a church). If conditions are so bleak, you might want to form a group of related condition people---this will give you support (emotional and physical); regardless, you may need to become politically active, and draw attention to these problems, and push for change. Churches and a well grounded minister can help you!! Good Luck!!---Texasmujer |
