The American Journal of Epidemiology reported that...

Researchers tracking 500 volunteers for a year found that those who ate four or more times a day were 33% less likely to be overweight than those who ate three or fewer meals a day.

Oh really? Goody for me! I eat three times during the day and three times in the evening. I always say 'rather smaller meals every couple of hours than two or three large ones'. Still I think I could reduce it a bit, or perhaps change my eating habbits as to what I eat

I find for me that eating healthy food every four hours really reduces my cravings for sugar and junk food. I think it works because it evens out your blood sugar throughout the day.

Smile

ive always been a 'grazer', and just kind of snacked all day, and i was always thin. i ate candy, but it wasnt that much, and i ate healthy stuff the rest of the day. it wasnt until i started to eat big meals (which people constantly harp on you to do) or really insanely high calorie stuff.
im back to grazing, and im more careful about what i eat (no more tiramisu ice cream or krispy creme donuts

Well I try to eat healthier foods now too as I have gotten older, but I'll always remain a sweetooth...
I just need a bit of chocolate here and there, my own addiction!

"When reasearchers had overweight women follow a plan... that provides about 300 grams of lean protein daily and cuts way back on starches while stil allowing dairy products, fruit and vegetables galore--they lost 200% more weight than a test group following a traditional low-fat diet..... What's more... they were three times less likely to give up than other dieters." Woman's World 9/30/03

"Reach for an 80-calorie apple instead of more fatttening foods, and you'll easily save hundreds, even thousands of calories over the course of a week. But apples have much more to offer than thier low calorie count. In addition to slashing cholesterol and reducing your risk of lung cancer, diabetes, asthma, stroke and heart disease, apples have been proven to provide these waist-shrinking benefits: They cut hunger for up to four hours. For starters, three apples will increasy your daily fiber consumption by about 15 grams, and Tufts University researchers have found that folks who added just 14 grams of the tummy-filling stuff automatically reduced their calorie consumption by 10%. And the solubale fiber in apples, called pectin, has even more power to kill appetites than ordinary fiber. Pectin eliminates the uge to eat for up to four hours, according to a study published in the Journal of the American College of Nutrition. -from Woman's World 9/9/03
