Oh lord, it is so difficult, all I want to tell is: Take flu serious, it's more than a running nose and not harmless at all. But if vaccination really helps - even the big experts argue and I am just a beginner...
Can virus vaccination really work? My prof would say as long as we're not really sure what a virus is (does it really live or what is it????) we cannot really say if vaccination works or if it is just a big bogus from the pharmaceutical industry.

If you want to get vaccination, make sure you are 100% all right, for else it can make you feel very, very sick. Then think if you really need it: There are demographic medical studies about the areas of the world where the most dangerous kinds of flu have appeared over the last few years. If you live in such an area, maybe it were better to get vaccination. If not...

Are you very old or is your immune system supressed (by disease, inherited defects, medical treatment?). If yes, officially it is urgently recommended to get vaccination, for these are the people who die of a flu more likely than others. If not...

Well, the fact about virus vaccinations is that the virus "changes" its signature in every person, you know, they take DNA from your cells to multiply, so vaccination that helps on one signature is not said to work on all of them. And in fact, about the hundreds of different flu viruses - how will you be safe of them by only one vaccination... Difficult to say. You know, some people feel safe with vaccination and they don't get ill because their trust in the vaccination gives them some strength (placebo???)and others catch a flu all despite vaccination or even BECAUSE of it. It is a difficult topic and some say yes, some say no. It is YOUR decision, you have to know how you feel about it. My very personal opinion, not the official medical-student-at-university one is: It's crap. Sorry to say! I got flu vaccination rather forced on me this year because they did give it to all the staff of the hospital where I worked, and ever since I felt weak and as if having a cold. All the years before, I never had vaccination and I never caught a flu. As long as you are not old or some sort of disorder of the immune system (it is URGENTLY INDICATED TO GET VACCINATION THEN!!!), leave it be. Not official, but my opinion. Doctors will tell you a different thing, maybe, because it's their job and vaccination brings money. LOL

Eat fruit, dress according to the weather, have little stress and a lot of sleep - that's the best you can do to strenghten your body against any sort of flu/cold.

You see, you are on the way to feeling good again without vaccination.
