Your friend may like to do it - and you may find it funny - but some of us 'Brits' prefer to be known as Scots, or English, or Welsh or Irish!
'Brit' also has negative connotations here - after all, it was the nickname given to the British army by the IRA...... so, although it has become more commonly used, lots of us prefer not to use it. |

I know it is rude.
Yes I know this. But I am sorry if I have offended you or anyone else in the forum by the useage of the term Brits, but also, it is my friends term and I just happened sometimes fall into the habit of using her term for English, it was not meant to be offensive in any shape or form. And I was not refering to anyones culture as a joke. I was refering to my friend.
Deepest apologies for any offense. I will seek to guard my language better in future postings or replies.

Thank you - I hope my posts didn't come across as too sharp - that was certainly not my intention!
It's just something that irritates me - but it's no different to some people from overseas referring to US citizens as 'Yanks '- which I know deeply upsets many people from the Southern States of the USA! |

I will not use the term Brits, but I think Yank is a funny word, even if it is used in an insulting way. It doesn't bother me any...
