Smile

Hi it's me again! I know I am making a pest of myself but if there is anyone out there with information on James Simpson MacDonald - born 22 January 1895 in Glasgow I would love to hear from you! His father was James and his mother was Margaret Moffett and I know he also had at least one brother named Neil. James was injured in WWI and received a military pension. Does anyone know how one would go about obtaining records via the military? I do have his pension number and some letters. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Have a great day!

Thank you for your kind response. I have an Army Form Z.21 which is a Certificate of (Transfer to Reserve) on Demobilization. The Regtl. No. is a little difficult to read there are 2 letters preceeding the number I am having difficulty with the first letter it is perhaps a W or N I cannot quite make it out, that is followed by the letter R 3-25526 Rank: Sapper (A/L/Cpl) - Unit and Regiment of Corps. from which transfered: (again there are letters that are difficult to make out the first 2 are hard I believe that they may be J W but cannot be sure) - J W & D Royal Engineers - enlisted on 12 November 1914 for Cameron Highlanders. He was transferred to Army Reserve on 9 January 1919 in consequence of Demobilization. Does any of that mean anything to you?

It is hard to know when on the internet where people are, I assume that you are in Scotland is that correct? If so where are you from? I think everyone dreams of a place they would like to visit someday and the place on the top of my list is Scotland! Five of our six children are grown and on their own, just one left at home - so my hopes of travelling are not to far off!

Thank you again for you kindness.

Cool Try Edinburgh Castle.

Mamabaer16 - If your Grandfather was in the army during the first world war (you mentioned he was demobbed in '19, so he must have been, then Edinburgh Castle had documentation (huge books) with all who participated in the army. I found my Grandfather's name there. Good luck to you.
Cassiecat.
