Hi,
I've been researching a line of my family and have found a reference to a advert.. in a paper in the Glasgow/Paisley regions..Could someone please let me know the names of any papers there so I can get a copy of the ad...we are talking the mid 1800's....

Thanx
EJ

Hi, EJ. I’m not too sure which newspapers were extant in Paisley in the mid 1800s, but you might want to try the Glasgow Herald anyway (find web address for it, and others, on homepage of Bonnie & Clau’s site cos I’m in a hurry) and I would suggest you contact the Mitchell Library (big reference library in Glasgow) to see whether they can help. http://www.mitchelllibrary.org/

e-mail of Glasgow and local history section = history_and_glasgow@cls.glasgow.gov.uk

The website of the relevant local library service – Renfrewshire Council http://www.renfrewshire.gov.uk/ - seems to be “under construction” but is a fax number for Paisley library any use? Central Library, High Street, Paisley Tel: 0141-848-7949 Fax: 0141-887-6468

National Library of Scotland in Edinburgh might also be of interest http://www.nls.uk/

Best of luck

Celyn,
I'm so excited!!!I found the article!!!!It was in the Clackmannanshire Advertiser...We now know where he moved to before coming to Canada...He went to Tillicoultry from Clackmannan...I just had to share my news ...This can be very frustrating but when something like this happens,it can be very exciting!!!!
