Hello everyone! I am a descendant of King Robert the Bruce. My grandfather lived in BelleChasse, Louisiana,U.S.A., and his name was David Bruce. My uncle, Cleveland Bruce, visited a castle a few years ago in Scotland.....heard through the grapevine that there is a book with the descendants of King Robert the Bruce. I am interested in that, as well as visiting that Castle that is supposed to be where Robert the Bruce lived. Anyone know anything, please help. Excuse my "green"ness. I am knew to this research. Thanks So Much.....Also, if anyone else happens to be a big Jude Deveraux fan, email me too. I just love reading her novels about Scotland and her characters!! I have a website(not about ancestry)at <http://www.geocities.com/chermarie.geo>....Who knows? Maybe I resemble an ancestor!haha
Go to my page and let me know.....email: chermarie.geo@yahoo.com Thanks again!!!!! |

Try David Ross
Hi there Bruceless. I happened to be at a highland games last week-end and David Ross was there speaking and pushing his books. I was more interested in his efforts surrounding the story of William Wallace however I do know there was reference to a "Bruce" book as well. I think it may be called TRAILING THE BRUCE, or maybe that was the W.W. book anyway, you should be able to find it. My understanding was that his books are done with accuracy and humour. IMAGINE!!! anyone being able to find this stuff funny. I can tell you though, his talk was very engaging.
Good luck Momma |

These highland games were in Fergus, Ontario,...Canada. Not sure of which Glengary you are talking about but NO, sorry. Do try to track down his book though. Not sure about the geneology, in fact I rather doubt that any would be included but it would give you a peek at the times and events. I think it is always nice to add a little texture to the "tree".
By the way, this Ross fellow, from Scotland, said we do the highland games way better in Canada. The one in Fergus at least. There must have been 30,000 people there. The mass band was amazing. The only problem cam when the announcer said they would be starting the sheep toss in a few minutes. ahahahahah !!!!!! I could believe it. There was no way I wanted to watch them throwing sheep around. Imagine our surprise and relief when they brought out the "sheaf". It is worth the trip, from anywhere. There were a lot there from Scotland even. Momma |
