Looking for Cook family members. Grandfather, John Meyer Cook, was from Edinburgh. Came to USA between 1893 & 1901. G-Gfr name was Joseph Cook married to Anna Tillary

I'm sorry I have no info on the Cook family but I do have a question. How do you know that the Cook family is of the Stewart Clan? I ask this because I am told that my last name, Gentles is also associated with the Stewart Clan, but I have been unable to verify this. Any help you can give me would be GREATLY appreciated.
