Hello again from NZ
A question regarding my husband's genealogy. An ancestor of his, a "Mr McAlpine" left Greenoch, Scotland on the barque the "Brilliant" in December 1940 to come to New Zealand. Does anyone have any information about this man - in searches we have never located his christian name - he is called in one article "the young Mr McAlpine". Grateful for any help.

Do you know which area in Scotland he came from or at least his age and I presume you meant 1840 not 1940.

Sorry Marhar, yes I did mean 1840. No, we have no knowledge of where in Scotland McAlpine came from, or his age, and have tried to locate a passenger list with more details but have had no luck.

Arrow Mcalpine
The Name of Mcalpine ,was brought to scotland by Kenith Mcapline from Ireland .. He was the First King of both The scotts and Pics. He came to Scotland in abt the late 3oo's or Early 4oo's ..

If you type in your search engine the following <McAlpine Surname > you will find lots of sites for the McAlpine name
