sites....
how reliable is electricscotland.com?
They have more information then I have seen on other sites about McCroskey (& spelling variants) then any other site I have seen. I have also found some information from the Wigtownshire Pages on Rootsweb.com I do try my best to cross reference items but knowing the more reliable sites are a bit confusing. |

true...everything is hit & miss but any information is good information the way I look at it. If I can prove it great, if I can't that is ok too...anything given to me is a lead whether it is right or wrong. That is just me though....

ElectricScotland used to be based in Scotland, now in Canada. They admit they accept info posted, without checking provenance.
Try also Rampant Scotland. They are more reliable (IMO).

Have you tried the General Register Office, based in Edinburgh? It has births/deaths/marriages of most Scots since records began, plus Old Parish records from before the census dates? It is not a free service, but if you know the questions you want to ask, and you marshall them in some sort of order, it isn't an expensive service!
