Hello David and welcome to Scotland.com

There was a Kyle Castle near Cumnock in Ayrshire which is in south west Scotland. There is nothing left of it now but part of the ruins.

This castle was home to the Cunninghame family and later passed to the Stewarts, latterly Stuarts, who were the Royal Family of Scotland from 1371 to 1603 and of Scotland and England from 1603 to 1689. The British Royal family to this day are indirectly descended from that family.

If you log in to Cumnock UK community site you will find loads of information, including pictures of what’s left of Kyle Castle. There is also a forum where issues relevant to the place are discussed.

If you log in to Kyle - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia you will find loads of information on the name.

Good luck with your research, hope this will provide a good starting point.

Crofter.

Hello and welcome to all Kyle's of Scotland!! Take a minute and drop us a word or two...tell us what part of Scotland is your home..and a little about the surrounding area...where to visit ect..we are coming that way next year and would be honored to meet you if our journey comes near...we realize that not all people are open, trusting and friendly, but we are and we look forward to new friendships from our parents homeland.

Ah, but the two groups, those of kings and criminals, are not necessarily mutually exclusive, are they?

Most people are, really. I hope you have a really enjoyable visit. Well no, I'm pretty sure you will. Just do it when the weather gets better. For now, it gets cold and dark very early.

rees howells intercessor...Happyhart's fav.book..

Hello Celyn..very nice to meet you...as to the former comment...the kings or criminals issue is beginning to lean toward the more "regal" side as the search progresses...as to the latter comment...thank you for the encouragement to come at a time when the elements will not dictate the quality of our visit...as of current planning it appears that we will be making an overnight in Ayrshire..and Kylemore House and on to the end of the "Rainbow" where we will find Mom' s house..or not.....May you an family be well and at peace...
