Lanankshire - Kelly Family

Hi,

I'm trying to dig up information about my husband's family. His grandfather Alexander Kelly emigrated to the United States before 1926.

There's very little information to go on, but here's what we've got:

Alexander Kelly born Feb 27 1887, wife named Jessie (surname unknown)

Children are: William, James, Daniel, Margaret, and Jessie

Member of the Murdoustoun Castle of Cleland 1096, Lanankshire.

Is anyone familiar with this branch of the Kelly family?

You could well be a relation of Ned Kelly: Ned Kelly - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hi,

It's a small point, and I hope you don't mind my telling you, but the county is Lanarkshire and not as you have in your message.

Lanarkshire - Kelly Family

Hi,
Since I posted the above, I have had a look at Scotlands People which is the official site for all records in Scotland. I have found that Alexander Kelly married Jessie Ferguson on 3rd February, 1911 in Shotts, Lanarkshire, according to the Banns of the United Free Church of Scotland. If I can help you any further, let me know.

Smile Thanks!

Thanks for the info! I've been searching for a few years over here in the US and kept coming up with more and more mysteries. I apologize for the spelling, but I was taking it straight off an obit.

Absolutely no need to apologise. I just didn't want you to find it hindered your research. You can log onto Scotlands People at:

Genealogy Scottish family birth records census ancestry Scotland uk - ScotlandsPeople

It does cost you but it is not prohibitive and it is a goldmine of information for anything Scottish.

Good luck.
