I am still trying, two years on to find information about my great great grandfather.
Neil Crawford immigrated to Australia on the Lady Lilford (embarkation # 2883) leaving Liverpool on 17 June 1839. As far as I can ascertain, he originated from Argylshire.
His agent was Holdsworth.
There are no records in Australia which show his parents names, but because of children born, their names may have been Alexander and Grace.

I hope that there is someone out there who has some information

Have you tried the GRO in Edinburgh? They keep all births/deaths/marriages since the census began, as well as old parish records and may be able to assist your search, if you have enough details on your ancestor - you appear to have a name and Argyllshire to assist!

It is important to know what age Neil was when he emigrated, but there are a few posibles in the International Genealogical Index (IGI) which is a free site on familysearch.ord (click on the advanced search mode then click on the IGI)

If Neil was around 17 this could be him.
