Shields, Cunningham and Primrose family names

I am looking for information on family surnames of: Shields, Cunningham and Primrose. All are from Renfrew or Paisley area. Additional surnames are: Melvin, Boyd, Park and Urie. (all from Renfrew all from the early 1700's to mid 1800's).

Two sites (one based in Scotland - and one formerly based in Scotland, now based in North America) which have lots of info on Scottish clans and sept names are Rampant Scotland Directory (the Scottish-based one) and Electric Scotland is all about the history of Scotland and the Scots.

My grt grt grandfather, John Shields, born Tradeston, Lanrk., April 1805 was married to Primrose Cunningham on August 17, 1827. They lived in Renfrew where he was a weaver and farmer.
