History of farms in the Scottish Borders

Is there any history of farms in Scotland. I am looking for history on Stockbridgehall farm north of Middlebie where my Great Great Grandfather Robert Irving was born and Breconhill farm where my Great Great Grandmother and his wife Janet Carruthers was born.

Well, Middlebie still has a thriving church and is still in the midst of farmlands, so maybe the church site could help with any enquiries you may have?

Thanks Polworth, the Irving's who came to Canada all appear to have been Presbyterian, but Janet Carruthers was of the landed gentry so would she be Church of Scotland or what.

Who would know? 'Gentry' could be Anglican, or Presbyterian or CoS... that's the trouble with us Scots, we were/are a thrawn nation!

BTW, my name is PolwArth... a village south of my home city of Edinburgh!
