Talking Looking for Stewart Clan
Hi, I am looking for the Stewart Clan. My husband is from the Royal Stewarts and I would like to trace his history. If you know anyone please contact me. Thanks a bunch.

There have been lots and lots of threads on this website about the various Stewart Clans. If you look within the Clan forum on this site, there are lots for you to read.

I am a Stewart of Appin - there are Stuarts aplenty from other Stewart Clans, too.

I do not know where you live, but suspect you might be outwith Scotland. The only way to verify that your husband's family is back to the royal line is to start with his generation, then his parents, then their parents and so on... back to the first immigrant to wherever you live. Then, with luck, you might be able to trace him/her back to a specific area of Scotland and you would then be able to try to trace further back via old parish records etc.

I'm not sure if you are aware, but many Stewarts were never members of any clan!

Edited to add: You may like to read the sticky at the top of this forum, ScotsSites has given lots of hints!

After you've had a chance to look at the many Stewart/Stuart threads, if you have further questions, I'm sure that someone will try to help with answers!
