Pol, I am not a stirrer (well not all the time anyway!)... I know for a fact that some Americans (and Australians too) absolutely HATE the English! In fact some of them even hate lowland Scots! Actually now that I think about it, they don't always like certain clans (such as Campbell). They go on about how the Highland way of life was so brilliant (living in blackhouses, rustling cattle, being under the rule of some self-important chief, etc) and they are so desperate to get back to it. Trouble is most of them have a very tenuous link to Scotland (a great times however many grandparent was kicked off his land by that self-same chief they so love to idolise), but they think they can sit over there and tell us how we should be running our lives and yet these numpies can't even sort out their own back yards!

As for the English getting tarred with the same brush... that must be one hell of a large brush!

Help neede to try and trace the dunn clan, yes we are scots not irish, the nearest we can figure out our
grand father george dunn was born around 1812 but had immigrated to canada, there were two marriges
and it is believed his second wife was agnes currie, we do know that in some way we were connected to
the erskine clans and that the family was almost completely destroyed ant one time, whether it be by
battle or desease we are not sure, so if there is anyone out there or any dunns that can pass on some
information this would be appreciated, also there were the following children Ross, Manual, Fred, Frank,
Wiland lawrence, plus there were daughters as well but at this time do not know thier names.

Thank You.

As your posts seems to indicate that you have found the original immigrant to your country - there needs to be research done on passenger lists etc at your end. Then, when you know where the immigrant emigrated FROM, you will then be able to proceed with finding links to this side of the journey.

If you look on Rampant Scotland Directory - they have lots of information regarding clan names, septs, histories etc. Another site, which is not so good but has some information which might be of help is Electric Scotland is all about the history of Scotland and the Scots. I caution you to check any information from the latter by independent verification, they admit that they accept any information as sent to them, they do not verify it!
