McGhie's of Balmaghie

My Last name is McKie . I have traced my family to the McGhie's of Balmaghie ,But what is very frustrating is all the Misinformation i am finding on the Net. I have already found three different story's of the Family and it's origins . Everybody discrediting the other . Is there any other McKie's or McGhies that have had this problem .

Sorry, I'm not a McGhie and I know nothing about your family history. If I were you, I'd try looking at Rampant Scotland Directory to see if they can help. A lesser site, which used to be owned and run from Scotland but is now an American or Canadian site is Electric Scotland is a major educational resource on the history of Scotland, the Scots and people of Scottish descent Both have lots of information about clans and their septs. Dont take either as gospel though, as neither site actually researches the clan information there, they just post it!

Good luck with your research.
