I am not a historian or anthropologist, but can offer some advice on genetic testing. I'm sure plenty of places like dnaancestryproject.com will take your money for genetic testing, just pay close attention to what tests you are paying for as mtDNA and y-chromosome DNA will reveal direct maternal and paternal linkage only. As an example, mtDNA (mitochondrial DNA) only represents .0005% of your genome and while your ancestry might indicate one thing your mtDNA might indicate another. Just make sure you know exactly what you (or your cousin) want to accomplish with the test and exactly what the test is going to tell you before you pay for it. I would also want to make sure that there are molecular anthropologists on board wherever I had the work done. Good luck!
