Hello Pat
I am from Edinburgh - a way away from Lanarkshire. But here's a site which may help your research Bellshill history book, the Lanarkshire town and the people |

The lines where Glasgow ends and the surrounding towns/counties start has become blurred over the centuries - a bit like Edinburgh and its environs.
I'm not au fait with many places on the West Coast, but the county town of Lanarkshire is Lanark - and all I remember is that they have a Lanimer Fair with a Lanimer Queen, in the early summer... Here's a Wikipedia entry for Lanark Lanark - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia |

You mustn't confuse our counties with the American equivalent! They are not the same sort of thing at all.
Yes, Lanarkshire is a Scottish county with its own County Town. Read the Lanarkshire site, there appeared to be a lot of info on there. As I have said,I am not a Westie - that part of the country is foreign territory to me! |
