I would reccomend anyone who has the opportunity to visit the New Register House to do so. I spent a whole day there last year it was great. You have access to their computer system to track down the records you want, then you go into the 'Dome' room to view a copy of the original document on microfisch. The 'Dome' room is amazing with 4 miles of shelving holding all the original records. You pay for a pass to get in, 17GBP for a full day. An uncertified copy of a record costs an extra 50p each.
