[Molly-Malone],
The unemployment figures for 2004 were 5.9% (4.8% women,7% men). It might be useful to look at the chart here-

http://www.scotland.gov.uk/Publicati...26122734/27382

to see the long term unemployment trend in Scotland. It has been falling continuously for over a decade.

GDP (at basic prices) £82bn (2004 est)
GDP per head (at basic prices) £16,200 (2004 est)
Numbers in work-2,469,000.

The best resource for information on Scotland is-

http://www.electricscotland.com/

It has a number of links to information on Scottish castles and places of interest.
