Hello
Well....... not much info in your post, is there?!

Just to give you the standard reply to your enquiry....

You don't say where you live - but I presume it is not in Scotland? If not....

You must start digging backwards, from your generation, then your parents, then their parents - and so on, until you get back to your first immigrant ancestor. With luck and hard work, you may then find out through passenger lists and/or immigration records, exactly WHERE your ancestor set sail from. This may not prove exactly where he/she came from, because he/she may have had to travel to a port many miles away from his/her home area. Only when you have successfully tracked your ancestor(s) back to Scotland will you then be able to 'prove' his/her Scottishness!

BTW - it would appear that Nugent is an Irish and Scots name - so you need to ascertain which 'Nugent' you belong to by the method I outlined above.

Good luck with your research.

Re:

I have never personally heard the name Nugent. But it shouldn't be too hard if you know where to look.

And I'm from the Davidson clan too Sammiedee! Specifically from Fife.
You should check out my tree @ Ryan Williams Family - Family Tree for Macleod, Hinksman, Williams, Brigham, Briscoe and 127 other surnames.
