If they're as efficient as the Tayside Society, they'll have copies of all the local census and OPR records. I think the Society is in King Street in Aberdeen (it certainly used to be, I passed it a few times) and if so it would be worth setting aside a couple of days and spending some time there tracking people down. It is time-consuming but interesting work, take it from someone who knows!
