After a wonderful holiday in Scotland from the USA in 2001, we were able to trace on the internet my great grandparents and some of my great aunts and uncles to their specfic lair numbers in the Leslie, Fife cemetery.
But does knowing the lair numbers mean we can actually find the lairs' locations upon our return? Are lair numbers typically visably displayed in the cemetery? Will we need a lair map? Are they typically available?
No one from my family born in the U.S. has ever been able to visit the grave sites of our Scottish ancestors. We want very much to pay our respects.
Any suggestions as to how to find the specific lairs?
Thanks,

Mich

Scottish Lairs System

Hi Mich,
Over a great period of time records can get distorted with multiple burials ect, ect. A good idea for you would to contact the local authority of the area in which the cemetery is, and enquire when their records started, and if they are available to search, doing this before you travel may save you a lot of time.

regards, Brandane
