anderson family history from borders area (edrom, selkirk etc)

hi, i am trying to trace more information on the ANDERSON family.


i am trying to get more info on a james anderson marrying a elizabeth ford in middlestots between 1780-1800ish

they had 7 children, the first 2 born in middlestots??, 3rd born ready loch, next 3 born black addertown and the last sheriff hall.


the childrens names in order are:

isobel (b.19.3.1798), john (b.2.8.1800), christian (b.22.9.1805), george (b.16.12.1805), mary (b.28.10.1810), margaret(b. 24.11.1811), and elizabeth (b.21.5.1814)

i am not sure if anyone can offer any ways of finding out more details on james & elizabeth...

i was trying to find where the birthplace of isobel and john was (middlestots??) , i'd be able to find info on their parents james/elizabeth (birth/marriage etc).

if anyone can give me any info or pointers, it would be greatly appreciated..

In most searches I have done in the last 18 years it has been impossible to get back beyond the middle or late 18th century. Old Parish Records have to be consulted for anything previous to the start of Civil Registration in 1855. These OPRs may have been damaged, made unreadable with damp, perhaps dissappearing when a new clerk took over, etc. In some Parishes if the parents did not pay a fee the clerk would not enter a Birth or Christening

james anderson was born approx 1773 and elizabeth ford approx 1777.
