Great..
William Simpson b. June 1838. Even though there are some census that says he was born 1840. He was born in Glasgow. He was a laborer. His trips back to Glasgow was at this address: 15 Glenpark St. Dennistoun He didn't come here until 1864-65. But made a few trips back up until the 1900's to the Dennistoun address so I assuming they were relatives, (parents, siblings). In his letter he spoke of Agnes Simpson and James Simpson. I know that one of his daughters name was Agnes, so Don't know if this could be the same Agnes in his letter. Other than his children that were all born in USA and one of his wives name I know nothing more about him. Thanks very much! |

I did get a response elsewhere for 1881 for people living at 15 Glenpark in Dennistoun where my G-Grandfather visited.
There were lots of names on the list. So am I to assume that this was a huge Apartment complex? If indeed there were apartments back in 1881. I don't know what types of housing they might have had there then. I have found evidence that he was still in Scotland up until 1879. All this time records have indicated he came here 1864,1870, but his oldest son I found in census later says he came here in 1879. I am trying to make sense of it all. So now I look into the census in Scotland for the years before 1881. Maybe he did marry there, have his children there and come here after his wife died. He was shown in US Census 1880 as widower. Don't know how correct the LDS site is but they have a William Simpson married to a Janet Rae with children of right names and ages born in Scotland. How easy is it to find a death record there for someone that died between 1875-1879? What kind of information could I find on a death record? Thanks very much |
