My mothers maiden name was Aitken. Her father John Cristie Aitken was born in Castle Douglas, Scotland. He came to America in the late 1800's. He had a brother the I believe drowned when he was 14 years old. There are a lot of Aitkins, mostly reletives that live in Norther California. My grandfather also was in the Royal Navy, jumped ship and went under the name of Black for a short time until he was given a full pardon. Hope some of this helps. I will try to find out more. I do know we belong to the Gordon Clan.
