I did post this under Marhar's genealogy but I'll try it again.
I'm looking for the parents and siblings of a Francis Hall(boot and show maker)born May 19 1829 in Clackmannan.
I have a newspaper ad dated May10 1851 notifying customers of his address change to Commercial Buildings Tillicoultry.
His old business was out of Mrs.Morisons Grocery in Clackmannan. He relocated again by 1854 to Canada where he married a Margaret Hamilton of Paisley. We have a James and Christian(Moir) Hall as his parents but cannot confirm it..Any help would be appreciated..

I forgot to ask this...Would anyone know if there is a site where I could find businesses in the 1850's for Clackmannan?

Hi EJ

Just spoke to marhar about your request and he said write to the Central
Library in that area asking if the Local Studies Department can assist you
in your search for businesses for that date !!

Ps...Marhar away just now visiting family !!

Haha, great minds, Babz! I had not seen your reply but was also thinking tht the library service might be able to help.

It's worth a try Dame Wallace I don't know whether they can help, but it's got to be a good place to start, and they might know of other useful sources.

Good luck!

Your Francis Hall was born in 1830 not 1829 according to the IGI extraaction in Clackmannan, Clackmannan.
