MEIKLE or Angus.Taylor.Dickson.Balderston.Mitchell.Beans"

These are all surnames in my ancestors in Scotland - Linlithgow, or Glasgow. How can I trace any decendants still living.
James Meikle was born 1806 his son Robert Bain Meikle dob;1835 was my Gt grandfather married Jessie Nichol 1864.
Their daughter Jessie Meikle married William Stewart 189? two of their children born around 1898 were Jessie & Robert Stewart.

I am 1st generation in Australia and contact was lost 100yrs ago with Scotland. I crave contact with any descendants does any one know how I can try to trace them or family of Alfred Meikle who married Evelyne Lindsay Hannah 1901 Kelvin Glasgow.

Robert Meikle married Jessie Nicol
Dec 2, 1864 in Tradeston, Glasgow, Lanark, Scotland

The only Robert Meikle's born in Linlithgow on the IGI which is an index of the Old Parish Register(OPR) were born in 1831 or 1832. The IGI is at http://www.familysearch.org.

Any born in 1835 were born in Hamilton in Lanark.

Because this marriage took place after 1855 you can look at the marriage certificate for Robert and Jessie at http://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk for a small fee. This should show you who both their parents were. It might also indicate if their births were registered. Not all were in the OPR as this is only for the Church of Scotland.

Once you have confirmation of their parents you may be able to research any siblings and find out if any had descendants that may have remained in Scotland.

Meikle.......

Hello........
I saw the name Meikle and thought I'd give you a little more to think about. I'm from the family of Meikle in Scotland. I'm in the U.S.A. but my grandparents are from there.....both Dunlop and Meikle. My grandmother was Janet(Jessie)Hamilton Meikle and her mom was Mary Meikle....a domestic servent. She (Mary) married someone by the last name of Grieve. Mary died in 1918 in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Mary had 9 children and my grandma Jessie was the oldest. Grandma Jessie was born in Larkhall, Lanarkshire, Scotland on 10-23-1883. She came to Canada in March of 1912.
She had one child....Grace Weir Madley, my mom.
Being in the U.S.A. it is hard for me to track the family over there in Scotland before the time of my great grandmother Mary Meikle. I don't know if this connects with anything you have but, I'd like to hear back from you.
Phyllis

Family of James Dunlop...help!

I am in search of my maternal grandfathers family. He was born approx. 1876 in Blantyre, Lanarkshire, Scotland. He had 10 brothers and sisters. A few were Jean, Richard, Jessie and Grace and Alexander. Richard stayed in Hamilton scotland in building business.
My grandfather James came to Canada in 1912.
If any of this is familiar, please write and help me fill in my Scottish heritage. Thank you.....
Phyllis
