Hi there, Happy New Year and all that

Can anyone offer me any advice on searching for his headstone!!
Nice thought I hear you say! But I would like to know if someone was buried in 1920 in Oldhamstocks, are there more than one church and one graveyard.

Basically my (here we go again) Great Great Grandfather Hugh McDonell was buried in Oldhamstocks in 1920. I know that he was a Presbyterian. I am coming up blank with any search I do. ps. his daughter Agnes may be buried with him but I dont know.

If anyone can give me a link to a web site or offer any advice I would greatly appreicate it.

Cheers
Irish Una

Cool

Thanks Polwarth - only getting back to ya now. That web link was pretty crappy to be honest.
Anyhow, I did travel to Cockburns Path, and onto Oldhamstocks, rambled around the kirkyard but to no avail.
About 7 headstones were fallen face down, so I reckon one of them was my ggg GrandFather.

While I was there I rang the local Rector, but there is no map or drawing to show graves. co Cest la vie!!!

p.s. Scotland is something else - I fell in love with the place. Will be back ( but with a much warmer jacket)

Chin up

Unr

Sorry the site wasn't much help!

And it must have been disappointing to visit the correct graveyard, and not be able to find the grave marker. Maybe you need to come back, under cover of darkness, and lift those fallen gravestones, just to set your mind at rest?

Glad you liked Scotland. We natives are pretty fond of it, too!

Hello
IrishUna hasn't posted on this thread since 2004, so you may have to wait awhile for a response.
