What kind of road blocks? What have you tried?
One of my grandmothers was a Henderson, but she was Canadian... Vancouver, BC to be exact. Her ancestors left Scotland during the Highland clearances for Canada, and gradually migrated west across the continent. She married an American husband and they later migrated from Canada to Minnesota. I'll be glad to help if i can, but i need to know who you are tracing, what details you know of them, and what you have already tried. |

Henderson
Very common surname in Caithness. I have about 12 Henderson's in my "extended" Family Tree. One Jacobina is the wife of my first cousin once removed Sinclair and the others are a family that seems to be from Kentucky mostly. We do need a little more information to go on!! Like what years you are researching. It's best to trace back in the US to the first immigrant ancestor then work from there in Scotland. Are there family stories to give any clues to a locale in Scotland. It is easiest to search if one knows the actual parishes ancestors are from but not impossible. Just the other night I found my great great grandmothers death certificate. This gives me her parents names, the name of her husband and the one piece of info that makes me 99% sure it is her lol. Plus it gave me some relatives I had never known existed. It seems my great grandfather had a half brother and sister that I never remember hearing about.
