need help looking for were i can look for family history

am wondering if anyone can help me im looking for a web site to find family history on the scott family history .
family came from the highlands and a place called glenfinnen

Hi Brad,

Welcome to Scotland.com! I hope you stick around.

I have a couple of suggestions. Do you have a good basic genealogy guide? If not, try Genealogy for Dummies. It's actually very good and will take you through ways you can pursue your questions step by step. Also, many surnames have a number of websites devoted just to them. Have you tried Googling "surname Scott" or "Scott genealogy" ? That might give you some good general leads. Also, you can Google individual's names, their birthdate, and location. Try "Scott + Glenfinnen" or better yet one of your ancestors names + Glenfinnen.
