I have found the Family Search site (The Mormon site in the USA) to be a good source of info.
I started off like the proverbial train, getting back to 1700 with one branch of my tree within 6 weeks (Mostly marriage and bith info) however that tree has gone cold so I am now spending a lot of time cleaning up the info I have and consolidating the current tree. However, it may be frustrating but it does keep you interested. Especially when you receive replies to queries posted 2 months ago like the ones today regarding the Caldwell name. Thanks to all once again |

Oh, you're more than welcome.
On my dad's side i work with a cousin in another country. He likes doing his searches by telephone, mail, and in person. I'm doing it mostly by internet and some by libraries. We compliment each other. He thought we were stuck on a lot of ours, but i found a couple more generations to one online, and some other details. These days there are so many people doing fine research and posting their trees, and more and more obscure local records are being put online, that i think it's rare that you have a tree that you can't keep finding SOME thing to add to it. There are also so many different methods. You might want to think what methods you haven't tried... like family bibles? church records? military records? property / inheritance records? Clan websites? etc. |
