MacDonald of the Isles - there's lots about them

There is a lot of detail about the clan on various websites you can Google. The Hebrides (Argyll in Scotland) is a major area they came from, having been "lords of the isles", along with the Macdougalls since the first scots entered the region (originally from Ireland).
I have one McDonald ancestor from the isle of Tiree who came to Australia during the famines, but the rest of her immediate family went to Canada. lots of McDonalds came here and to New Zealand before 1850.

Genealogy doesn't work like that!
You have to trace YOUR family back to the first immigrant to your country... then, with luck, you'll be able to trace them back to this side of the pond and then do searches via Scotlandspeople.

Good luck!
