Hi there,
Can anyone point me to a good internet site about family history/genealogy within the UK. My family left Britian to go to Australia in the early 1800's. I have to gone to Genuki and have found it a little difficult to navigate. Any tips and pointers would be much appreciated. Thanks ~

I'd start with
http://www.cyndislist.com in the United Kingdom section. This is actually the best site for links to other sites worldwide and is constantly growing. or http://www.rootsweb.com or http://www.familysearch.com They're all American sites but all have data and links to other sites for Scotland. Genuki is good if you know which county your ancestors are from.

The best source for UK records is: http://www.scotsorigins.com.
From there you can access the scottish records office and others within the UK. There is a small fee toa ctually download records, but the information is by far the most useful you will find online. |
