Hi! I am new to genealogy, but I am trying to connect with my Scottish roots! My grandmother was Jessie Mc Clarty from around Mull. She emigrated to Canada (Montreal) around the end of the 1920's with her 3 year old son John Fraser Mc Lean (my father). Her sister was Augusta (Gussie) who also emigrated around the same time. I believe they were from Mull. I have little other information available so far, and would appreciate hearing from anyone who might have any information or who thinks they might be related. Thanks and I look forward to hearing from you. Nancy Mc Lean, Winnipeg, Manitoba Canada

Congratulations on the upcoming wedding. We may be having one coming up soon here in Winnipeg too. Not mine unfortunately! In the meantime, I will be looking forward to hearing back from you soon! Are you a Mc Lean or a Mc Clarty or just know them? 'Bye for now, Nancy Mc lean |

Hi Nancy
Have you checked the National Archives of Canada for immigration records? For 1925 to 1935(?) these records are on line. Here's the link. http://www.archives.ca/02/020118_e.html

My great-great grandmother was a Dolena (Dolly) MacLean/McLean, she married my gg-grandfather Neil MacDonald and had three daughters. She died at a young age in 1922. They were living in Baddeck, Nova Scotia when my g-grandmother was born and the family moved to Vancouver, British Columbia after she died. She also had a brother Angus who settled 6 acres of waterfront at Quesnel Lake in an area now known as Likely, British Columbia. Two of her daughters including my great-grandmother died in 2000 and her youngest daughter is still living.
That's all I know. Ryan W. |
