According to a study by UCLA (University of California at Los Angeles), when frazzled, women often "tend and befriend," reaching out to others for support and advice, while men typically go into "fight-or-flight" mode, creating conflict or withdrawing. So work with this by saying, "Is it OK to chill out, then talk about our day?" Go gor a run or call a friend to give him space to cope in his own way, and he'll be ready to converse when you return.
