This particular forum seems really cool..... thanks so much, all of you, for sharing your stories! It's like opening up a little window into each of you.
Me, I come from a family of 3 kids, my older sister, younger brother, and myself. We have our share of not-so-great memories (parents fighting and divorced when I was about six, my sister and I fighting like cats and dogs when we were growing up ), etc.
However, a lot of my favorite memories involve Mama. When I was in junior and senior high school, she and I would get into discussions on Friday nights during which she passed on a lot of her values to me or sharing about her own experiences as a girl. Also, many times, she would take time out of her busy schedule as we got older to play card or board games with us. They were a major highlight of our day, spending time with Mama. She was also very spontaneous and, often when we'd be out doing errands, she'd all of a sudden turn into a burger joint, totally off-the-cuff, and surprise us with going out to lunch.
Other favorite memories involve going hunting with Daddy (my step-dad) when in high school. We never caught anything, which suited me just fine. The idea of killing and gutting/cleaning wild game just didn't set well with me for some reason. Ugh! But we'd just go tramping in the hills, in the snow, together. He taught me to be totally quiet when doing so, showed me deer tracks, etc. We'd be gone all day together, and then come back home. Those are some of my most fondly-cherished memories, period.
My brother and sister and I would play pranks on each other, albeit totally by accident at times. We still laugh about them even now, with my sister being 40, me 38, and my brother newly-turned 36.
I'm so grateful for family..... it truly is one of God's greatest blessings!
