Hi All,

Although I'm married to a Jock and live in the UK (England, not Scotland :-( )He is pretty useless when it comes to Scottish Christmas traditions. I know that traditionally Hogmanay was more of a celebration than Christmas, but there must be something! We are going to visit my family in America for Christmas and I would like to include something Scottish in the festivities.

Anything would be helpful, food ideas, etc.

Thanks a bunch

Thanks CC

Thanks Crying-C. Thats not a bad idea. Wonder if I could smuggle some salmon on board the plane. Come to think of it, my hub made me a wonderful scrambled egg dish with smoked salmon and cream for New Years Day when we were dating (see, New Years again - not Christmas!). Might try that. ;-)

Well you see Inedin - it is true that Hogmanay and New Years Day is bigger in Scotland than Christmas Day when we will have Black Bun and Shortbread and Whisky. So maybe you should concentrate on the Englishness of Christmas and the Scottishness of Hogmanay, bringing on the likes of Andy Stewart and Fran and Anna to liven up the proceedings.........lol

You shouldnt have to smuggle it... im sure i've seen smoked salmon in the duty free, and also smoked salmon specially packaged for being shipped, etc.
