I've heard a lot about deep fried mars bars but I can't quite bring myself to try it. Haggis was no problem (good thing it's not sweet!)
Last trip to Edinburgh I got a tea time cook book w/ a great cranachan recipe. Never seen it in any other cook books tho... I also made it and put in in tarts once...to die for!

Never tried a deep fried Mars Bar. Even I have my limits
Don't know what it is with frying things and Scotland when we've so much more to offer culinary wise? (Desperately trying to think of Scottish recipes......)

Dewa mata, Karasu.

Talking Cranachan recipe

1 pt double cream
3 tbsp clear honey (Heather honey is best but not available in the US so you can make do with Clover)
3 tbsp whisky (I have used sherry, too)
4 Tbsp thick plain yoghurt
1 oz fine oatmeal
6 oz raspberries

Toast the oats in a pan under a hot grill til gold. Set aside to cool.
Put the cream, honey and whisky in a bowl and whip together til it forms peaks. Fold in the yoghurt. Spoon the mixture into a serving dish and chill for 2-3 hours. Before serving, sprinkle the oats over the top and pile on the raspberries! I have folded the oats and raspberries into the mixture prior to setting and it makes a nice varriation on a theme! Enjoy!
