is there a lot of traffic in scotland?
how many cars do most families have?
how many lanes is the biggest road?
whats the best way to travel daily(work, shopping, etc.)?
do most people drive british cars? are they any good?
sorry, forgot I was in cuisine so try this: add LOTS of chopped green onions and saltines instead of bread to your meatloaf. also cut the amount of salt you add.

margie...you ask lots of questions.

traffic - cities can be busy at peak times, country roads at weekends and holidays (tourists !)
cars...varied
lanes...from single track (passing places) to three per carriageway & direction - mainly through Glasgow on the M8
car, train, bus to work Helensburgh to glasgow train every 30 minutes takes 40 minutes
what british cars? Ford, Toyota,Rover, BMW every make, all made abroad.

Yes don't forget to eat your greens -they ARE good for you !

Cheers Marg

Elmy

thanks for answering them all

yeah I know ..lots of questions. feel free to ask any yourself. our biggest highway has from 5-7 lanes on each side. lots where roads come together. It's a mess. and its news to me that there aren't any british cars! If you ever come here, trust me, let someone else drive. people here are crazy...we had another car chase today. is asparagus common? hope so.

oh, there are british cars....blink and you miss them !!!

You like asparagus - you chefs have too much taste. Only in season, whenever that is - sort of nowish I think.

Margie - whatever questions come to mind, just fire away, its no problem to answer them. I'll probably ask similar before I head over the atlantic for a holiday next year (fly-drive)

cheers

elmy

I have strange tastes. I'm very picky about what I eat, but will cook almost anything. Favorite is still a grilled cheese sandwich. Are you going to travel all over U.S. or just a short visit. I had a blast in NYC last spring and there's tons of stuff to do here..coca cola museum, the zoo, tons of shopping and our subway goes from the airport to all over the city. thats really helpful. hope your trip is fun wherever you go!

Talking Travel and Food !!!!!

This is good, two topics in on section...lol, never thought of doing that myself.
Although it would be messy eating asparagus while travelling I would think.
Some shops do stock it all year, so Elmy you got that wrong and who said you
could shorten your name

He was right about the cars, but I wonder what car he drives????

babz and elmsella

here's another question: What is the british school system like? when I have children I want them in a more disciplined school system than we have here. what age do children begin foreign languages?
more greens:
have you ever tried spanikopita?

you will need: phyllo dough, spinach, cottage cheese, ricotta and/or feta cheese, garlic, green onions, and butter or oil.
wilt spinach, squeeze out as much water as you can
mix well with cheeses, chopped onions, and minced garlic, put in fridge untill ready to use.
layer half the phyllo into a 13"*9" pan, brushing each layer with melted butter
spread spinach evenly and layer the rest of the phyllo on top. bake at 350 F for 45 min or untill browned and very crisp.
this is so yummy.
