Hello! Just came back from Gorgeous Scotland two days ago and I'm miserable at the fact that the holiday is done for now. (back again soon...and again in fall!yayyyyy!)
There were nasty rumours flying around here that the food there wasn't so great but the rumours were all BUNK!!!!
I feel like I gained a stone in 8 days! So, anyone have good recipes for Scots broth, (which surely must be simple) and Steak and ale pie..and a good scone recipe and anything else which you may have a lovely recipe for? Would be grateful!(although my not **too** wee anymore waist won't be grateful!) Much thanks...cheers, Lyn{-O*

Scones

Scone Recipe for you

Oven Temp 450 F/230 C/Gas mark 8

8oz. S.R.Flour
2oz. Butter
1 Teasp. Baking Powder
Pinch of Salt
1/4 Pint Milk

Rub all dry ingredients together until it resembles breadcrumbs and then stir in enough milk to form a sot dough.
Turn out onto a floured board and knead lightly, then roll out to a thickness of 3/4 " or 2cms. and cut in to shapes required.
Put onto greased baking sheet and bake for at least 10 minutes until golden.

If sweet scones required 2oz. of sugar can be added.

More recipes will follow, but I am not having much luck with the egg one, so if anyone else knows HELP!!!!

Scotland cuisine

You've obviously been misinformed - Scotland's food is great - especially the salmon and venison and desserts and scones and sausage rolls and bridies, etc., etc. etc....

It's the English who can't cook!
