There are lots of different recipes for shortbread that I have found over the years.
So here are a couple for you to try.
Oven Temp. 350 F/177 C/Gas Mark 4

Shortbread

8oz. Plain flour (2 cups)
4oz. Butter (124g. or 1 stick)
2oz. Caster Sugar (62g.)

Heat oven beforehand.

Mix all ingredients together until formed into a ball that is of soft consistency. Knead well on a floured board until mixture goes a lighter colour.
Then you can either shape into a large round or into small rounds.
Prick all over and place on a baking tray(cookie sheet)and cook for 30-40 minutes until golden brown.

This one is Forfar Shortbread

Same oven temperatures

1 1/2lbs. Plain Flour (6 cups)
1lb. Butter (2 cups)
4oz. Caster Sugar (5/8 cup)
3oz. Rice Flour or Ground Rice (85g.)

Prepare and cook as above recipe.

Hopefully I have done the weights correctly from UK to US.

If not can someone let me know.
