THISTLE46 - I asked my mom whether the recipe she is looking for would be treacle toffee or tablet but she said that it is neither. I checked out scottish-recipes website, but they don't have it either. But they did have a recipe for Victoria Sandwich which I've been looking for. Thanks for your help. Well, I'll keep trying here and maybe someone will have the recipe (it's an old one so maybe some of you could ask a parent or grandparent if they know of this toffee or have a recipe for it.

Russion Toffee 'The Recipe'
50g/2 oz butter
100g/4 oz sugar 100g/4 ozs golden syrup 400g/1 large tin condensed milk 25g/1 oz redcurrant jelly A few drops vanilla essence Put butter/sugar/syrup in a large pan over a low heat and stir until sugar is completely dissolved. Bring to boiling point and add condensed milk and red jelly. Continue to boil to 265F, 130C hard ball stage, stirring all the time. (If using a thermometer be sure to have it in a container of hot water so that it is hot before it enters the pan.) Add vanilla and pour into a greased 7 in square tin. When cold, cut into squares and wrap in wax paper. (FARMHOUSE KITCHEN BOOK3) |
