I had some wonderful neeps in Edinburgh a few years ago and I was wondered if anyone out there put something special in their neeps? I like them with butter and a little salt. What do others like?

I always add salt when cooking them, when cooked I drain them and then mash them adding a little butter and also some black pepper.

Yes to what Elly-May said. Black pepper definitely seems to be good with them.

Thumbs up

I use a little olive oil instead of butter!

Yeah, highly traditonal, from the ancient Caledonian olive groves! No, assuming that you are serious, which I have no real reason to doubt, yes, I'll try that.

I like to add equal amounts of tatties to the neeps add butter milk salt, pepper to taste.
mash together but leave some lumps for texture finally add some syboes [scallions] sliced very thinly or leeks which have been softened in butter.
