Does any one know the American equilivant of castor sugar? Is it confectoners sugar, bakers sugar or granulated sugar?

I've seen this question discussed on a U.S. message board, and as far as I recall, they didn't come up with one unanimously agreed answer. Definitely not ordinary granulated sugar - it's like that but it's in smaller bits, basicallly. Me, I would just use granulated sugar, BUT that's an admission of incompetence, rather than advice.

I know the difference!!!!

I cheated and looked in the dictionary.

Its granulated sugar that has been finely ground.

Like Celyn I dont use caster sugar, its twice the price of ordinary sugar and why pay more when the other will do perfectly well.
